■ Encoding Rules

Call Sign Format

  • Must not start with 0 or 1 (ITU rule)
  • Prefix: 1–3 alphanumeric chars — the last digit is the district digit
  • Suffix: 1–6 uppercase letters (A–Z only), after the district digit
  • Examples: OE2XKD, 9A2EDA, 4X6TT, F5XO, W6RJ

Encoding — Letters

Each letter produces two digits:

  • Digit 1 — key number the letter sits on
  • Digit 2 — 1-indexed position on that key

Example: O=63, E=32, A=21

Encoding — Digits in Prefix

  • Every digit in the prefix is multiplied by 10
  • This applies to the district digit and any digit earlier in the prefix

Example: 9A290 21 20
(9×10=90, A=21, 2×10=20)
